Conkle’s Hollow

Exploring Conkle’s Hollow in Hocking Hills

Conkle’s Hollow in Hocking Hills is a rugged and steep rocky gorge that most consider one of the deepest in the state. A half-mile walk takes you through breathtaking 200-foot cliffs to the trail’s end, with numerous waterfalls cascading over its sandstone cliffs. Offering a nice contrast to the rough cliffs, the valley floor is filled with green ferns, hemlocks, and colorful wildflowers (in spring and summer).

Just outside the Hocking Hills State Park, this gorge is located off S.R. 374 on Big Pine Road. A short 20-mile drive from Valley View Cabins makes a great day trip for exploring the beauty of Hocking Hills.

Take the Gorge Trail to Conkle’s Hollow.
