How to Enjoy Hocking Hills in the Fall

Hocking Hills fall image

Hocking Hills in the fall is a special time of year when an array of warm colors dot the landscape around us, our streets become alive with the sound of fallen leaves crunching below our feet, and cooler temperatures begin to greet us. We invite you to discover how you can enjoy Hocking Hills in the fall with the below activities.

Take a hike

One of the best reasons to visit Hocking Hill in the fall is to see the beautiful fall colors. And what better way than with a hike? Hocking Hills State Park is a great place to start with plenty of trails to see the fall foliage, caves, and waterfalls. Another great place to bask in the fall colors is at the Rockbridge State Nature Preserve. It is home to Ohio’s largest natural rock bridge, a structure that was formed millions of years ago when Ohio rested under an island sea.

Plus, the trails we named in our How to Spend the Summer at Valley View Cabins blog are also just as beautiful in the fall.

Take a drive

Expand your horizons and get in your car for a scenic drive through the southeastern region of Ohio. The Hocking Hills Scenic Byway, a 26-mile route through rolling hills and around the state park system, is a great day trip from Valley View Cabins. The route starts at US 33 onto Route 374 near Rockbridge.

There are also several other Hocking Hills fall foliage routes that are a bit longer and cover larger areas of the state including, the Skyline Drive Loop, South Bloomingville Loop, the Nelsonville Loop, and the Lake Hope Loop. For driving directions, visit Hockinghills.com.

Ziplining

What better way to enjoy the fall foliage than to zip right through it? Ziplining in Hocking Hills is a popular activity in the summer and fall. Imagine flying through the air amongst huge colorful trees and verdant canopies as you peer at the ground below you, sprinkled with the early leaves of fall.
